With May’s Brexit Deal accidentally being revived in the House of Commons. Mike Swadling of the Croydon Constitutionalists shared his thoughts on the ex PM’s withdrawal agreement.
With reports of MPs engaged in talks on plans to amend parliament’s standing orders allowing the House of Commons power to block a no deal Brexit. Sputnik spoke with Michael Swadling from the Croydon Constitutionalists.
“the MPs effectively are in their last chance saloon with the people they are meant to represent, they have to get out on 31 October, and I think most MPs when it comes to it, will realise that”
“the thing you do when the vote comes out, and you’ve not won, is in my experience go up to them, shake their hand, and you accept the democratic outcome.
These MPs are only prepared to accept when they win”
“Labour simply don’t understand the <working class> people and areas, and they fail to understand why people might vote for Brexit, and why people feel passionate about their country”
Michael Swadling from the Croydon Constitutionalists reflects on whether there are any chances of this to happen and what a no-deal Brexit would mean for the UK.
“It’s an appointment; we didn’t elect the President of Europe, we don’t know what manifesto she ran on, I don’t know where I can run to get rid of her, it’s an appointment, the EU is not a democracy and it’s really important to underline that.”
“if the EU changed the withdrawal agreement that gets us nowhere, if they just sat down and said you’re a free and sovereign nation, let’s talk sensible terms, then we can get somewhere.”
“They are globalists; I think many do not believe in the nation-state, they do not believe in Britain, they don’t have the confidence of the people who elected them, unfortunately, they’ve proven themselves to be a bunch of liars.”
Mike Swadling of the Croydon Constitutionalists was interviewed about the Conservative Party Leadership contest on Sputnik Radio.
“Once they’ve left the EU I think he’s got a chance. It’s not just about that for the Conservative Party, they haven’t been Conservatives since the day David Cameron took over, so they need to do something to fight for their core constituencies and deliver for them, but first of all they have to deliver for democracy,” the political campaigner said.
“There is a set of people in Westminster who didn’t want us to leave, which is perfectly reasonable because people can differ, but they have ignored the vote which is unreasonable, and it’s a disgusting act by them.
“they’ve not stopped doing everything they can to ignore the democratic wish of the British people, they are unfit for office, they are unfit for public life, and they keep proving that time and time again”
Croydon Constitutionalist Mike Swadling was interviewied on Spunik Radio about Theresa May’s Brexit bill and the pressure she is under to resign following negative feedback from her fellow MPs on her amended deal.
“I can’t see how they can replace her with anyone but a true Brexiteer; someone who hasn’t supported the withdrawal agreement, someone who isn’t in the Cabinet”
“I don’t think you could get a cigarette paper between the Lib-Lab-Con; they are all anti democrats and they all need to go”
Croydon Constitutionalists Mike Swadling was on Radio Sputnik speaking about the talks between the Conservative and Labour parties on Brexit.
“These are deceitful parties and deceitful politicians who have blatantly lied to the British people, and it’s no surprise that when they try to find the next steps to take to deceive us further, that they can’t find a common ground”
“The great thing is, throughout our history, throughout the history of all struggles for democracy, there’s been set backs, it has taken time, but the people always prevail”
“those are the parties of the past, and they are parties of the past because they have set themselves up against the British people”
“I absolutely believe that the people and that the vote of 17.4 million of us will prevail in the end”
Mike Swadling appeared on Sputnik radio this week discussing the anti-democratic actions being taken in Parliament.
” we have such a viper’s nest of traitors in parliament at the moment that many of them really are willing to bring down our democracy, and vote to revoke Article Fifty”
“If we don’t leave the EU in very short order; our representatives have become our dictators, they will have ignored the biggest vote in British history, and there would be no reason to think that voting again makes any difference, and at the point they pit themselves against us, you can’t vote for change and you leave people with very few options if they want to affect change”
“She is actively bringing about the demise of the most successful party in world democratic history, and if that’s what they want to do, that’s up to them; I can’t for the life of me understand how they haven’t removed what is a terrible Prime Minister”
On Friday 1st March Croydon Vote Leave lead Mike Swadling appeared on Sputnik Radio to discuss to possible extension to Article 50.
“In recent years we’ve seen greater use of referenda to make big constitutional choices; when there’s one the establishment don’t like, they are throwing away our democracy. There should be anger, there should be problems, and these people are effectively declaring war on the British people.”
Croydon Vote Leave Lead Mike Swadling was on Spunik Radio this week responding to suggestions the government has been discussing how to extend Article 50.
“a government that cannot get our act together, ..working with a parliament that cannot get its act together, and we have a parliament of MPs that are willingly ignoring the will of the British people.”
“These people work for us, they don’t seem to get it, and any attempt to delay Brexit is really just an excuse to try and stop it.”
“When we exit the EU on WTO terms; that will be fine for whatever trading we do with the EU, just as well as it does for our trade in China.”
Croydon Constitutionalists Michael Swadling was interviewed on Sputnik Radio about his thoughts on the Brexit in 2019.
